FAQ
Elopements + Weddings Information
I require a signed contract (by each person getting married) and a $500 non-refundable retainer to save the date. This means you are officially booked and your wedding day is put into my calendar. The balance is due 30 days before the wedding day. You can split it up into smaller payments if that works best for you.
What happens if you can’t be at our wedding?
I want to preface this by saying this has never happened before. But in the case of hospitalization, death of a family member or a family emergency. I would do my best to find a replacement to photograph your wedding and still handle all the editing and client care. To me, this is an absolute worst-case scenario that I don’t plan on actually happening. But I do have a wonderful community of photographers located across Canada that I can rely on if something like this were to happen. Your wedding day is so important to me that it would have to be an extreme emergency for me not to be there celebrating with you.
What if we cancel or reschedule the wedding?
The non-refundable retainer you paid when you booked and signed the contract was to hold your specific date. Unfortunately, if you need to cancel or reschedule the wedding that doesn’t change the fact that I have turned away other bookings for that specific date to save it for your wedding. Another non-refundable retainer would be needed for your new date if you need to reschedule your wedding.
** If you are a wedding that is being affected by COVID-19 there are specific policies in place. I am happy to chat about them with you.
What happens if the weather is bad on our wedding day?
Unless the weather is dangerous for us or my camera gear we can still amazing photos with dark clouds and changing weather. We can find overhangs, use umbrellas or embrace a light rain. We can also plan to do indoor photos as well. We can’t control the weather and I don’t expect you to pick a magically beautiful day as your wedding day, I am comfortable photographing in all types of weather and working with all types of lighting situations.
I will note, we live in Canada and most of the country gets some sort of winter and snow so if you don’t want photos in the snow I get it I am not a huge fan of snow myself, either plan a wedding in another season or plan for indoor photos.
Do you photoshop us?
No. I do not photoshop bodies to make them appear different from how they look in real life. I am all about self-love and photographing real moments both involve you exactly how you are.
If you have a pimple or something temporary like a bruise or a rash, I don’t mind getting rid of it because it is only temporarily part of you.
Are your travel fees included in your photography packages?
Yes, they are included in my wedding packages. I do this to make things easier on you, so you have an exact number and not an estimate of what you are paying. Also, I tend to book my travel in bulk, so when I am in Banff in June each year, not one couple is paying for my whole travel, it is split between all the couples that I book in Banff in June. Make sense?
What happens if your flight is delayed for a destination wedding?
What do your travel expenses include?
For travel within Ontario, I calculate the gas, food and accommodations (if needed). If the wedding is somewhere that it would be easier or cheaper to fly to then I calculate the flights, rental car, gas and three-night accommodation into the travel expense.
For travel between provinces, I plan to stay 3 nights in case of travel delays, time changes and time for scouting locations. I calculate the plane tickets, rental car and gas, accommodations and food that I will need.
For international destinations, I plan to stay four nights in case of travel delays, time changes and time for scouting locations. I calculate the plane tickets, rental car and gas, accommodations and food that I will need.
What happens if you have never been to a location before?
I digitally scout the locations using different programs and apps. I reach out to friends and business contacts who have been to the location to get recommendations. I arrive early to physically scout the locations we have chosen together. If you have a location you have been to before and want your wedding photos to take place, that’s great! I will still digitally and physically scout them beforehand so I am familiar with the area.
How long have you been a photographer? How many weddings have you photographed?
I have been getting paid for photography for over 10 years, I started out assisting other photographers, then seconding shooting and associating with other photographers. I have photographed over 100 weddings as the lead photographer. From big traditional weddings to cultural weddings to small weddings and elopements.
Can I suggest what type of photos I want?
Yes, I understand the excitement and making Pinterest boards. But I need you to understand that part of hiring me as your photographer is trusting me to capture your wedding day with all the important moments. So by all means send over the Pinterest boards but give me the ability and creativity to capture your wedding day as it happens naturally and cohesively.

Are your travel fees included in your photography packages?
They are included in my wedding packages but not in my photography session packages. My photography session packages include travel around the Niagara and Kitchener-Waterloo region. If I am already travelling to a destination and you want to book a photography session while I am already there, there is no added travel fee.
I am in Banff each June and I make regular trips to the Muskoka and Prince Edward County areas.
