A Small Wedding in a National Park
Have you ever dreamed of getting married in a National Park? That’s precisely what Cassie and Sascha did; they had a small destination wedding in the Yukon, specifically in Kluane National Park at Kathleen Lake. Cassie and Sascha love of the outdoors. Most of their dates involve some sort of outdoor adventure to explore the Yukon and Northern British Columbia. Therefore, it seemed only natural for them to have a small destination wedding at Kathleen Lake, Yukon. Over the years, they spent lots of time camping and hiking at Kluane National Park and specifically Kathleen Lake.
Cassie and Sascha wanted a small wedding surrounded by close friends and family in the outdoors. But when they started planning their wedding, they could not find a wedding venue that fit their style and their desire to include their two rescue dogs. So they made the arrangements to get married at Kathleen Lake and rented out campsites to decorate for the reception. They rented tables and chairs, decorated the site and set up a BBQ to grill local meat for their guests. Their reception in the woods was a magical night filled with laughter, a bonfire and cold beer. It was such a relaxing and enjoyable reception. It was such a relaxing and enjoyable reception that allowed them to connect with those closest to them and enjoy their wedding day without the traditions that were not important to them as a couple.
The Importance of Photography
As a photographer, I love how important photography was to them. The timeline for the day allowed for a two-hour window to be able to capture family photos and their couple photos. We were able to walk around the lake, which was FREEZING with the wind blowing off the glacier lake. Afterwards, we headed into the forest, we took our time walking around. We were taking pictures, with lots of laughter, giggling, and romantic moments on our way to the reception. There was no rush, it was the best way to have a photography session that ended with beer and wine.
