Eloping on a weekday
Eloping on a weekday. You don’t have to wait for the weekend.
It’s a common misconception that weddings happen on weekends. One of the great things about eloping is not working around a lot of people’s schedules. This means if you want, you can elope on a weekday.
So eloping on a weekday is an option… What’s the benefits?
- It’s not as busy. Do you want to have the ceremony or portraits taken at a popular place? I bet it’s super busy on the weekends but during the week it most likely has less crowds and more privacy.
- More open dates for vendors. Some vendors get booked for weddings a 1-2 years in advance. There are limited weekends dates and they get booked up fast. Eloping during the week gives you more dates options if you are planning a shorter engagement period.
- If you are having a destination wedding or travelling to your elopement, travel costs (flights, accommodations etc.) during the week are typically less than weekends.
Is eloping on a weekday right for you?
First of all, do you like the idea of eloping on a weekday? I personally love it but if you don’t get a good feeling about it then plan a weekend elopement. Can you book the time off work for a weekday elopement? Everyone has different vacation policies so make sure you, your partner and any witnesses can get the time off work.
Where do you want to elope? If you have a specific venue in mind, make sure they allow elopements during the week. Some venues only allow weddings on weekends. Typically Airbnbs, cabins, b&bs and boutique hotels will allow elopements during the week. If you are getting married at an outdoor location, like a provincial or national park it’s a benefit to elope during the week since it will be less busy and provide you with more privacy.
Wherever your dream elopement location is, if there isn’t information on their website send them a quick email or phone them. I have come across many locations that allow elopements but do not have any information on their website.
